Safety and Authorized Use
PRIORITYwave is a tool for manual traffic signal control by trained, authorized personnel — during emergencies, special events, and planned operations. It helps you send advance commands; you remain in control of the intersection at all times.
Only authorized personnel should access traffic signal cabinets or operate PRIORITYwave in the field. Follow your agency's procedures at all times.
Stay in Control
The system doesn't replace active supervision. Keep your eyes on the signal heads, traffic movements, pedestrians, and field conditions the entire time you're operating. Improper use, distraction, or failure to monitor traffic can result in serious injury or death.
A few ground rules:
- Stay on site and within line-of-sight of the intersection while operating.
- Don't operate while driving or while doing anything else.
- If the signal ever does something unexpected, stop sending commands and contact your local DOT or traffic agency.
- Use only approved power supplies, signal cables, and accessories.
Where Not to Use It
Skip any intersection where you can't see and understand the state of every affected movement while operating — complex intersections, coordinated corridors, linked controllers, or anywhere your agency restricts manual control.
Field Handling
The receiver is built for field work, but it isn't waterproof. In rain or snow, run it from inside the included waterproof case, and keep it secure whenever it's deployed.
