Safety and Authorized Use

PRIORITYwave is an assistive tool for manual control of traffic signals by trained, authorized personnel during emergencies or special events. The operator is solely responsible for maintaining full control of the intersection at all times.

warning

Only authorized personnel should access traffic signal cabinets or operate PRIORITYwave in the field. Follow local agency procedures at all times.

Stay in Control

PRIORITYwave helps send manual advance commands. It does not replace active supervision of the intersection. The operator must maintain visual awareness of the signal heads, traffic movements, pedestrians, and field conditions at all times.

Improper use, distraction, or failure to monitor traffic conditions can result in serious injury or death.

Operator Responsibilities

  • Remain physically on site and within line-of-sight of the intersection while operating.
  • Do not use the system while driving or while performing other tasks.
  • Stop sending commands immediately and contact your local DOT or traffic agency if any unexpected signal behavior occurs.
  • Use only approved power supplies, signal cables, and accessories.
  • Keep the device protected from conditions that could interfere with safe operation.

Where Not to Use It

PRIORITYwave is not intended for intersections where the operator cannot see and understand the state of all affected signal movements while operating. This may include complex intersections, coordinated corridors, linked controllers, or other locations with agency-specific restrictions.

Field Handling

Keep the device secure and protected from conditions that could interfere with operation. The PRIORITYwave receiver is not waterproof. When deploying in inclement weather, keep the receiver in the included waterproof case.
